West Los Angeles, CA- Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on I-405 Near Santa Monica Blvd.

West Los Angeles, CA (April 18, 2019)- A crash between an SUV and a motorcycle on the 405 Freeway near Santa Monica Boulevard left the motorcyclist dead. The accident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 10 am.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a 25-year-old Reseda man was killed while riding his 2007 Suzuki GSX R-series bike. The motorcycle collided with a 2018 BMW X5 SUV driven by a 60-year-old Beverly Hills resident traveling in the lane right of the motorcycle. The motorcycle reportedly hit the left rear of the BMW.

The motorcyclist was killed in the crash, which also caused the motorcycle to catch fire.

The CHP reported that alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been involved in the crash.

Due to the crash, a SigAlert was made and five southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were closed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
