Crash in Ceres Kills 1
Ceres, California (June 18, 2018) – A young bicyclist was killed as the result of a fatal hit-and-run accident that took place near Service Road and Moffett Road around 6:00 PM (PST). According to local sources, the victim has been identified as 27-year old Aaron Bryant, a local of Ceres, California.
California Highway Patrol reported that Bryant was riding his maroon BMX bike down Service Road as he approached the intersection with Moffett Road. At the moment of crossing, another vehicle had been traveling westbound down Moffett and rapidly approached the intersection. Without warning, the vehicle careened into Bryant, sending him flying from his bike and crashing into a utility pole. Despite the arrival and care of paramedics, Bryant died at the scene from traumatic injuries resulting from the impact.
CHP also confirmed the accident was a hit-and-run. After crashing into Bryant, the driver did not stop to help the bicyclist and instead continued down Service Road before exiting northbound to Baker Road. The driver has not been identified or located as of posting. The vehicle was described as a 2014 or 2015 dark gray or black GMC Sierra crew cab truck.
After the accident, the vehicle was discovered in a parking lot in Ceres and was identified by both the make and model as well as the damage to its front portions including headlight, mirrors, and fender. However, the driver was not with the vehicle and remains at large. CHP has urged residents to call the non-emergency line at (209) 356-2900 if they achieve any critical information surrounding the accident and the culprit.
