Yreka, CA – 59-Year-Old Truck Driver Killed By Passing Vehicle In I-5 Crash

Yreka, CA (March 2, 2019) – California Highway Patrol has decided that a fatal traffic accident on Interstate 5 actually was caused by two separate incidents, one occurring right after the other.

A driver of a semi-truck hauling a double trailer lost control because of the icy street as he was heading north on I-5. The truck jack-knifed and ended up blocking most of the freeway. The driver got out of his truck after the incident but was then struck and killed by another commercial driver on the road.

CHP was able to locate the vehicle that had struck the driver, a 2016 Volvo Truck. The driver was a 35-year-old truck driver from Sacramento.

The victim was identified as a 59-year-old man from Galt, California. The fatal accident shut down I-5 northbound for several hours.
