Oakdale CA- Hwy 120 Near Pioneer Ave. Site of Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Oakdale, CA (April 26, 2019)- 29-year-old Modesto resident Benjamin Wilson has been identified as a pedestrian killed on April 20 on State Route 120 (Highway 120) east of Pioneer Avenue. According to reports, the crash happened at around 1:10 am when a 2012 Hyundai Elantra driven by Ripon resident Emad Samihakim Aiad hit him for unknown reasons.

According to reports, a 2018 Ford EcoSport was also involved in the crash in capacities unknown. Reports stated that it’s possible the Ford’s passengers knew Wilson. However, a number of factors involved in the crash are unknown at this time.

Wilson sustained fatal injuries due to the crash and died at the site.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Governors’ Highway Safety Association Report on Pedestrian Deaths in California

The Governor’s Highway Safety Association noted that 6,227 pedestrians died in the US in 2018. This is an increase of 250 compared with 2017. California, with 432 pedestrian fatalities in 2018, ranked first among US states for most pedestrian fatalities.
