Reducing the Amount of Glyphosate in Your Diet
Our ancestors subsisted on a diet that was made up of 100% organic food. Of course, they didn’t refer to it as ‘organic food’, they just called it ‘food’. Farming practices akin to our contemporary ones, practices that include the use of genetically engineered organisms like those that have been modified to resist Monsanto’s ever-present Roundup herbicide, synthetic fertilizers, and other herbicides and pesticides (particularly ones that contain the cancer-causing chemical glyphosate) did not exist back then.
During the course of the last eighty years or so, our dietary practices and our farming methods have been considerably changed. Our anatomy and our genes, however, have not. It is unreasonable and unrealistic to think that you can foster a healthy body or attain peak mental or physical health by consuming foods that have been envenomed with toxic, deadly, carcinogenic chemicals that the human body can not even process properly.
Chronic Inflammation
Making all of this noxious, adulterated food has really started to shine a light on the topic of chronic inflammation. Your body’s immune system is intended to keep you well. This natural defense system becomes activated when your cells encounter any foreign bodies. The foreign bodies a called ‘antigens’ and they include things such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, or toxins.
This activation of your immune system causes a response in the body that is known as inflammation. Occasional bouts of inflammation whose purpose is to rid your body of antigens help to keep your body healthy. Oftentimes, however, inflammation stays present in the body. It becomes a chronic condition because the antigens that it keeps detecting is one that is making its way into your body with every bite you take.
This state of chronic inflammation is being caused by the myriad of chemicals that modern farmers used to produce your food. Chemicals used to achieve the ideal color and the biggest size and to keep the critters and the insects and the weeds away from it. Chronic inflammation is your enemy. Numerous major diseases and other sicknesses, including heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and depression, all of which currently afflict hundreds of thousands of people, have been associated with chronic inflammation and chronic inflammation has been tied unequivocally to the food we eat.
Reducing Your Body’s Toxicity
Animals and plants that have the organic label on their packaging have been exposed to:
- Herbicides
- Pesticides
- Growth hormones
- Antibiotics
- Ionizing radiation
- Fertilizers made with sewage sludge or any artificial ingredients
Man-made, synthetically constructed herbicides and pesticides are hazardous by their very nature. If you consume a modern Western diet, then chances are that you are consistently and frequently in contact with these toxins. Animal products are not any more suitable. The majority of livestock is fed a diet of corn and soy which, besides the fact that this is not even their natural diet, 90% of both corn and soy crops are genetically engineered. The livestock feed is also loaded with hormones and antibiotics.
Sadly, the antibiotics are essential due to the alarming number of diseases that they get from their wretched living situations, and the hormones are deemed “necessary” by farmers because factory farming demands all the meat a full-grown cow produces but it doesn’t want to wait for the cow to grow into adulthood. These hormones also cause the cows to yield abnormal quantities of milk so that more is able to be sold, which in turn will make the factory farm more money. This increased milk yield generates even more infections in the cows, thereby calling for the meting out of even more antibiotics, which all eventually find new homes in your family’s cheese, ice cream, milk, and other dairy products.
In 2005, a supervised, scientific study proved that changing your diet to 100% organic could greatly decrease the quantity of herbicide and pesticide- bourne poisons in your body in as few as two weeks. If you are still uncertain if an organic diet is right for you and your family, then you can take some smaller steps towards improving your health by endeavoring to not eat foods that expedite the onset of chronic inflammation, like:
-
- Refined carbohydrates – white bread, cake, doughnuts, danishes, et al.
- Fried foods – fried chicken, french fries, cheese sticks, fish sticks, et al
- Soda – other beverages that are sweetened with sugar or high fructose corn syrup
- Red meat – steaks, hamburgers, venison, duck, et al
- Processed meats – sausages, hot dogs, beef jerky, bacon, ham, et al
- Margarine – lard, shortening, beef tallow, vegetable suet
A lot of people who are making their best effort to be healthy tend to overlook the outside coverings of foods. More foods that just fruits and vegetables often accommodate much greater levels of glyphosate and additional deposits from other herbicides as well. This is why it is necessary to ensure the removal of the skins from your animal-based foods as well.
Glyphosate can be very problematic when it comes to not eating it due to the fact that it is not judiciously sprayed on crops, but many of those now glyphosate-covered crops will be used as fodder for the livestock. The noxious chemical residue then finds a home in the meat of the livestock, particularly in the fatty tissues such as skin. If you must buy poultry or beef then you will want to ensure that you have trimmed away all of the surplus fat. You could also consider purchasing leaner cuts of meat, or adopting a vegetarian diet altogether.
