Eureka CA- Severe Injuries in Pedestrian Crash on 6th St. And Myrtle Ave.

Eureka, CA (April 26, 2019)- According to police reports, a southbound grey SUV on Myrtle Avenue in Eureka hit and injured a 27-year-old male pedestrian on Monday.

The reports stated that a pedestrian ran into Myrtle Avenue at the intersection with 6th Street for reasons unknown at approximately 3:20 pm. This caused a collision between the front passenger side of the SUV and the pedestrian.

Following the crash, the driver of the SUV and others in the area provided aid to the pedestrian as he lay on the street. Paramedics soon took him to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of critical injuries including a fractured skull, ankle, and shoulder, as well as brain swelling and hemorrhaging.

The accident was caught on tape by an Uber driver’s dashcam. The SUV driver was not charged in the case.

Authorities stated that the crash remains under investigation.
