Pedestrian Accidents in California
There are a few California laws that protect pedestrians from getting hit by vehicles. One of those laws requires vehicles to yield for pedestrians whether they have the right-of-way or not. When drivers hit pedestrians because of recklessness or carelessness, they’re likely to be held liable for the entire accident.
The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine whether the driver will be held fully liable or partially liable. There are some cases when pedestrians are partially responsible for causing an accident. Depending on what the police find, there’s a possibility that the pedestrian will be able to file a personal injury lawsuit to recover damages and losses. If the driver is fully responsible, it’s important for the injured victim to file a claim as soon as possible in order to receive a higher compensation.
