The Devil’s Dozen, Part 4

This article marks the culmination of a four-article set of the same name, published on 02, 05, and 06 January. It strives to call attention to some of the most deadly products that Monsanto has brought or aided in bringing to market and most of which they still continue to support to this day.

Roundup

What is it? – Monsanto’s RoundUp Weedkiller, whose main ingredient is glyphosate, is the single most universally used herbicide in the entire world.  In the year 1970, Monsanto established their agricultural chemicals unit with the deadly RoundUp as their flagship. Glyphosate has been proven to cause cancer in many scientific studies because of its characteristics as a likely endocrine disruptor. Endocrine disruptors are a class of chemicals that greatly disrupt the regular and healthy production of various hormones. Endocrine disruptors have been known to cause developmental complications, cancerous tumors, and birth defects. RoundUp is allowed and is still used extensively today. Its primary purpose is to destroy weeds. Huge amounts of residue from the glyphosate can be detected in our streams, groundwater, soil, and even in the air that we breathe.

Aspartame

What is it? – Very similar to saccharin, the artificial sweetener aspartame is also used as a sugar substitute in a wide variety of drinks and food. The Monsanto corporation managed to finagle their way into the development of this little gem in 1985 shortly after they acquired the original company responsible for the manufacturing and selling of aspartame. I don’t even know what to tell you about this junk. The banning of this popular, 100% chemically-composed artificial sweetener not once, but twice by the Food and Drug Administration should serve as a great big red flag. There are also many, many scientific studies that clearly outline all of the risks that are known to go along with it. Accusations have been bandied about that aspartame is known to negatively impact your health. You could potentially suffer from maladies ranging from mild issues like frequent headaches, digestive symptoms, changes in your mood, as well as dizziness all the way up to health problems that are far more dire like Alzheimer’s disease, Gulf War syndrome, birth defects, attention deficit disorders, diabetes, lupus, seizures, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis. Take a minute and ask yourself, how and why is this deadly product not only still perfectly legal, but also used in excess in over 6,000 products worldwide to this day, including things such as diet drinks, sauces, yogurts, gums, cereals, drink powders and a whole lot more.

Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH)

What Is It? – Created by Monsanto, Bovine Growth Hormone is a very specific genetically modified hormone. It is routinely injected into dairy cows to get them to produce milk far past their natural capacity and at an accelerated rate also. As a result of the artificially increased milk production from cows that have been injected with Bovine Growth Hormone,  we will also see an increase in the amount of pus, antibiotic residues, residues, and a cancer accelerating hormone known as IGF-1. If IGF-1 is consumed by a person, it continues to behave like a cancer accelerator, and it has also been associated with the growth of colon, breast, and prostate cancer. rBGH is still in use even now and is typically shot into our technologically raised, factory farmed, unsustainably kept dairy cows every other week.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

What Is It? – This topic is one that should certainly require no explanation. It is well known that Monsanto lies at the very heart of these abominations. Sometime in the early 1990s, the Monsanto corporation started their agendas that are still going on to this very day under the deceptive declaration that they can “feed the entire world.” A chronic toxicity study that was recently conducted examined consequences to the health of rats of being fed a diet that consisted primarily of commercialized, genetically modified corn, right beside Monsanto’s Roundup Weedkiller, the well-known NK603 glyphosate-based herbicide. The scientists who conducted the study found severe kidney and liver damage, in addition to hormonal disruptions in the rats that had been fed with the genetically modified corn in combination with low levels of Roundup. These levels were well below those allowed in most of the drinking water that is found throughout Europe. The study results also showed extremely elevated frequencies of large tumors and increased mortality in most of the treatment groupings. GMOs are widespread throughout most of America’s crops but most prominently in potatoes, sugar beets, tomatoes, corn, golden rice, squash, salmon, soybeans, and animal fodder.
