Long Beach, CA – Ricardo Torres Killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Anaheim Street
Long Beach, CA (March 13, 2019) – On the 6th of March, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Del Rey Court. According to the reports, a vehicle struck 63-year-old Ricardo Torres around 6:30 p.m. and proceeded to drive off without stopping to help him.
When the paramedics arrived to offer assistance, they found Torres laying on the road in critical condition and transported him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, despite life-saving measures, Torres died two days later.
The police are currently searching for the vehicle responsible as they continue to investigate this detrimental accident. So far, it is believed that Torres was crossing Anaheim Street outside of a marked crosswalk and was hit when he reached the westbound number two lane.
We send our condolences to Torres’ family, as we know how devastating it is to lose a loved one in a vehicle accident, especially if the accident could have been prevented.
Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents in California
Almost one million hit-and-run accidents happen in the United States every year. Unfortunately, the cause of these accidents is usually due to drivers speeding, violating traffic laws, driving under the influence, or driving fatigued. When drivers fail to stop after striking a pedestrian, they either have a warrant out for their arrest, are in a stolen vehicle, have no auto insurance, or no valid license. No matter the reason, it is unacceptable for a driver to avoid accountability after seriously injuring someone.
At Brady Law Group, we help families who have lost loved ones in pedestrian accidents file wrongful death lawsuits to obtain compensation for damages and losses. We do not believe it is fair for families to take on the financial burdens of medical bills, funeral expenses, and more.
