Montecito, CA – Pedestrian Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver on Highway 101

Montecito, CA (March 24, 2019) – A hit-and-run pedestrian accident occurred early Saturday morning and ended with one person losing their life.

The pedestrian was hit in a collision with an alleged hit-and-run driver shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Highway 101, in the freeway’s southbound lanes, south of Olive Mill Road. California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this fatal accident.

An Infiniti struck the pedestrian, and while the driver initially pulled over, they ultimately fled the scene. Emergency responders were called to render aid but the pedestrian did not survive their injuries from this accident.

The driver of the Infiniti has since been apprehended and the car was impounded for evidence.

The southbound freeway was shut down at Cabrillo Boulevard for investigation purposes.
