Placer County, CA – I-80 Freeway Site of Pedestrian Crash
Placer County, CA (March 27, 2019) – A woman was injured on Wednesday morning as she was putting snow chains on her tires on the Interstate 80, west of Truckee, in Kingvale.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened at 7:36 a.m. The collision with an oncoming car threw the woman away from her vehicle and under a truck. Another driver took her to a local hospital, where she received treatment.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Tire Chain Safety
Fastening tire chains can take twenty minutes or longer. In order to put them on safely, your car should be pulled over to the side of the road as far as possible.
When conditions are bad enough that tire chains are necessary, it makes common sense that all drivers would slow down to prevent accidents. However, negligent driving and speeding can happen even in icy conditions.
