When DUI Drivers Hit California’s Pedestrians
Driver distraction is the most common cause of pedestrian injuries and death, while the most common cause of driver distraction itself is driver intoxication. When an intoxicated person gets behind the wheel of a car, they are breaking the implied promise all drivers have in one another to only drive when 100% alert. A driver who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol is unable to fulfill this promise.
