Santa Rosa, CA – Serious Pedestrian Accident Leads to Injuries on West College Avenue

Santa Rosa, CA (February 6, 2019) – Police reported that a man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries after a serious pedestrian accident that took place on West College Avenue. The accident took place around 7:40 p.m. on Friday night in the middle of a downpour.

Police say that a male victim had been crossing the railroad tracks in the area and had been hit in the crosswalk by another driver. Those at the accident scene claimed that the pedestrian never hit the button to light up the pathway before crossing.

51-year-old Cristobal Barajas was identified as the pickup truck driver who struck the man. Police believe that Barajas had been drinking at the time of the accident, which would explain why he didn’t see the pedestrian.

Barajas pulled over after the accident and cooperated with police after several witnesses reported the accident. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition and is expected to survive. Police say that he had a broken leg, head injuries, and major internal injuries.
