Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents in California
Unfortunately, recent studies revealed that California had the most hit-and-run fatalities in the nation in 2016. There are many reasons why drivers choose to flee the scene instead of being accountable for their actions. For example, if drivers are driving with an expired license, without auto insurance, in an unregistered vehicle, in a stolen vehicle, or with a warrant out for their arrest, they’re more likely to flee the scene of an accident because they fear the outcome of their negligent behavior. Whenever hit-and-run accidents occur at night, it’s likely that drugs and/or alcohol are contributing factors, which is another reason why drivers continue to flee.
Once the police find and arrest the driver responsible, Macias’ family could hire a California wrongful death lawyer to help them file a wrongful death lawsuit.
